East Hull Brass Project
For our third session, the East Hull Brass Project moved to a new home as we were hosted by Alderman Cogan’s C of E Primary Academy. The main hall provided a fantastic space for what turned out to be our biggest rehearsal yet!
It was wonderful to see an even larger group of children attending this time. Pupils from Alderman Cogan, Highlands, Marfleet, Maybury, Neasden, and Woodland schools all returned with the same energy and commitment we’ve come to expect.
A Musical Step Forward
This session was particularly impressive as the band tackled two brand-new pieces, including our very first march. In a significant step up from our previous rehearsals, the group performed these pieces unaccompanied. Playing without a backing track requires a lot of confidence and listening skills, and the pupils rose to the challenge brilliantly.
The progress made in these sessions is a testament to the hard work of the students and the support of their schools. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the hall, and it’s clear that the “East Hull Brass” sound is really starting to take shape.
Looking Ahead
We are now taking a short break for half term, but we already have our sights set on the next rehearsal. We will be returning to Alderman Cogan once again after the holidays to continue building our repertoire.
A huge well done to everyone involved—enjoy the break, and we’ll see you back in the hall soon!
