After a short summer break the Podcast is back! The Albemarle Music Centre has been on the road at the Freedom Centre in East Hull as we partnered with Woodlands, Alderman Cogan, Southcoates and Maybury Primary Schools to put on a day of musical events for all the family. Shaun Crowther talks to anyone who would speak with him about Music, East Hull and the Music Service and he also gets into conversations about buses! Also meet John (not his real name) talking about his love of Car Boot sales and we also meet up with Nigel Taylor from the Beats Bus who tells us about a young Hip-Hop talent he has spotted!

Episode 4 – A Night at the Movies

We are on the road this week at the recently refurbished Middleton Hall at the University of Hull for a concert inspired by all things film (and a bit of TV). All our levels of Albemarle Windbands and the Youth Jazz Orchestra are featured and we catch up with students, staff and members of the audience to talk about the event and performing in this magnificent hall.

Episode 3 – Music For Youth 2019

Follow highlights of the Music for Youth Regional Festival 2019 at the Albemarle Music Centre. We listen to the Malet Lambert School Rock Band and the East Riding Senior Percussion Ensemble. We also feature Maybury Primary School with performances from their Brass Band and Choir and chat to them about their experiences and love of music!

Music Service student Emily Degg joins us to present and we also get a view from the Music Mentors. Oh, and Sean and Shaun are reunited…

In this episode we feature Hull born conductor and Music Service alumni James Hendry as he returns to Hull as guest conductor with the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra at Hull City Hall.

Andrew Penny talks to James about his life as a young musician growing up in Hull and his move to the Royal Opera House in London. We also catch up with James’ Music Service Teacher, Martin King who also likes to sing and talk about Rugby.

In the first ever Albemarle Podcast, follow the inaugural Grimethorpe Besson Youth Band Project at the Albemarle Music Centre, Hull. 

Guided by the team of Grimethorpe Colliery Band Tutors, young Brass Band musicians from across the region take part in rehearsals and sectionals; talk about their experiences and finally perform to a packed house at the Albemarle on Saturday 2nd February 2019.
