We were delighted to host the first RPU collective performance at the Albemarle Music Centre on the 5th December.  Groups from across Hull met to perform their work to family and friends and the atmosphere was amazing.

The night started with a DJ set from Ty who along with the nights other DJs, Harrison and Tyler has been working with Joe Townsend from Noise Academy.  This was followed by a group of singers and dancers from Astra Youth Centre who performed 5 songs and all the singers had solo moments.  This group have been working with Hull music service staff Stephanie Miller and Shelley Gabriel and the performance was fantastic.  Groups from Freedom Road Creative Arts provided the next three acts, Voodoo Dance Party entranced us with clever manipulation of live instruments with electronics.  The next two tracks were part of a project funded by Headstart where young people have reimagined songs from Hull bands.  It was great for first time performers to see and hear more experienced bands on stage.  Tyler from Rise Academy then finished off the night with a final DJ set.

The whole night was sound engineered by a group young people from Freedom Road Creative Arts who have been taking part in weekly sessions at the Albemarle Music Centre led by Like Bolton and Tallulah Vigars.

This project is funded by Youth Music working with Hull Music Hub, the youth service and PRUs. Many of the young people are working towards their Explore or Bronze Arts Awards.
