Hull Music Service is delighted to report on the success of the Albemarle Summer Festival, which took place on Sunday, 5th July, at the Pearson Park bandstand. Blessed with excellent weather and a strong turnout from the local community, the event provided a wonderful platform for our students to showcase their musical development this term.

The afternoon featured successive performances from nine of our ensembles, demonstrating the depth and variety of the music tuition provided at the Albemarle:

  • Percussion & Steel Pans: The day commenced with precise and energetic sets from the Albemarle Training Percussion, Albemarle Percussion, Banditos!, and Generation Steel Pans.

  • Brass & Choral: The City of Hull Youth Band and the Hull Youth Choir followed, delivering highly polished performances that were warmly received by the audience.

  • Wind Bands: Our progressive wind program was on full display later in the afternoon, featuring consecutive performances from the Training Wind Band and the Junior Wind Band.

The event concluded with a performance by the senior Albemarle Wind Band. Their repertoire for the afternoon included classical works by Gustav Holst alongside a sophisticated arrangement based on traditional sea shanties, both of which were exceptionally well received by the attending public.

We would like to congratulate all participating pupils for their dedication and high standard of performance. Extended thanks also go to our ensemble leaders for their hard work in coordinating the afternoon, and to the parents, families, and friends whose continued support makes these vital performance opportunities possible.

We look forward to seeing you all again in September.
